Jeffrey Waters 

Hi!  

My name is Jeffrey Waters and I have the privilege of being the Ignite College Pastor.  I go by “Free” quite often, short for Jeffrey.

I grew up in Savannah, Georgia and spent my college years in the best college town in America: Athens, GA.  For me, Athens was great not because of the bars or the football (although I do love me some SEC football, “GO DAWGS!”).  Instead, Athens is special to me because it is where I fell in love with the Lord.  

After 4 years of school, a Kinesiology degree from UGA, and more life experience than I can write about here, I served for 2 years at a campus ministry, the UGA Wesley Foundation.  It was during these two years I realized my passion for discipleship and having “no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.” (3 John 4)

A few years later I found myself attending Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky.  After 4 years of living among the best community of people ever, I graduated with my MDiv and landed here, in Cape Girardeau.  

In addition to playing racquetball and watching college football and college basketball, I generally just enjoy spending quality time with people in the midst of real conversations.  I also love to travel and see all parts of the world.  I’ve been privileged to see a lot of the world, but there is even more I want to see in the future.

I have two sisters and a brother-in-law.  I am also "Uncle Free" to four wonderful nephews and one beautiful niece.  They all live near my parents back in Savannah, GA.
